6th International Symposium of Loneliness

Dear Participants,

Old age, as an inevitable phase of human life, profoundly shapes individuals' experiences of loneliness. The growing elderly population in modern societies often faces increased social isolation, a search for meaning, and a heightened sense of loneliness. Technological advancements and fast-paced lifestyles weaken intergenerational communication, further intensifying feelings of loneliness among older adults. How does old age intersect with loneliness? What factors influence the loneliness experiences of older individuals? How can social policies provide effective solutions to this critical societal issue?

The 6th International Loneliness Symposium, themed “Old Age and Loneliness”, aims to explore these and similar questions. Hosted by Üsküdar University, the symposium will take place on December 27, 2024, in a hybrid format, allowing both in-person and online participation. Esteemed scholars, academics, and professionals will convene to examine from Türkiye and abroad the themes of old age and loneliness from diverse perspectives, offering in-depth analyses and proposing solutions.

The symposium will be conducted in both Turkish and English. Your participation would be an honor and a source of great joy for us.
